So i ve seen a few tutorials on marbling and some of them use acrylic paints.
I used this nail polish marbling technique on glass jars metal bowls wooden gift tags and papier maché boxes.
This one however is right up my alley.
Once the nail polish touches the water it is going to want to set and heat will slow the process.
It looks really tricky but it s simple once you know how to do it.
Wait 10 mins for the nail polish to try and then pat the water droplets with a paper towel.
The marble effect uses a lot of nail polish so stay on the cheaper side.

When i was done and wanted to change up the colors i just took a toothpick and swirled it around the water and it picked up the nail polish and then i was able to put other colors into the water.

We used three colors for each marbling.
With the nail polish bottle very close to the surface of the water pour a drop or two of polish into the water.
Partly because it s a coffee cup and partly because it uses fingernail polish to make the colors.
Have a few backup bottles in different brands just in case since not all polish works as marbling.
I could get about 3 4 rocks with each color combination.
Use relatively new polish if you can.
The nail polish will be stuck on the face of the box.
Use the stirring stick to collect the rest of the nail polish and to clean up the water for the next color.
This is cute too though.
